Has anyone seen / used this? Zippo Woodsman
« on: March 17, 2014, 12:51:12 PM »

An ad popped up for it today. thought it looked handy but have heard nothing about it, and so many multi function gimmicks are just that.

Found some Amazon reviews on this item. blade is mediocre and saw has a tendency to brake its mounting points.

First I've seen of it.  Does the saw blade store in the handle of the hatchet ?

It does. looks like a good idea but doesn't seem to be holing up in the field.

Gerber makes one that seems to hold up better but the saw isnt as long as i would like.

Those Gerber axes and hatches are made by Fiskars.  They cut like mad!  I've had two previously, and am about to get another to pack with my camping/overlanding gear.  I was really wanting the Fiskars version, but they are getting hard to find on shelves so I'll probably either order it, or just pick up the Gerber branded version (Gerber is owned by Fiskars)

I have a fiskars X15 chopper. Would like a saw though and was looking for a way to have my cake and eat it too.

I went to AG Russel yesterday to see if they had a hatchet that would fit what I was looking for, and they did.  14" Gerber/Fiskars, but the important thing here is that they also have the Zippo Woodsman in stock.  It is a pretty good sized "gadget" and the clerk did not have any personal experience with it.  All he could say is that he agreed it was a neat idea, and that they have not had any come back or had any customer complaints on them.

Thought you might like to know in case you wanted to check one out in person.

X2 on Gerber axes.  I carry that and a folding hand saw.
