« on: March 03, 2014, 10:39:37 AM »
Fancy, a weekend juant through some of Texas' Hill country?

This trip is just like the others through the Hill Country. Friday rally-up in Marble Marbles, drive a few hours on the county dirt roads, camp on a gravel bar on the James River, south of Mason, Texas. Saturday, we drive further into the backcountry (possibly even spotting a zebra or two) towards the Caverns of Sonora where we shall camp Saturday night. Then Sunday, at everyone's liesure disband back towards Monday responsiblities. Hopefully with a fresh outlook and a spring in one's step!

The meeting point will be in Marble Falls, Texas at the Exxon on the corner of 281 and Mission Hills Drive; it is across from the Post Office on the west, the Wendy's on the east, the Walgreens to the south. The fuel station also has an Arby's adjacent to the Exxon.

Meet time will be 11am, and roll out time will be 12 pm.

R.S.V.P. below. Limit to 10 vehicles.

Im interested, although I cannot get that Friday off from work.  Anyway we could meet up with everyone at the campsite that evening?  Do you know where you will be camping Friday evening?

Hi Jeff!

We shall be camping south of Mason on that gravel bank on the James river. You are more than welcome to show up then.

Ok, great, thanks Nigel.  If memory serves, that is where I have camped before on a prior Hill Country trip.  Nice wide gravel bar along the river?

..Anyways, count me in for the trip!  Its been a long while since we have been on a trip.

I'm interested but might not go all the way to Sonora. I may take off just past junction and find some back roads home.  I thoroughly enjoyed this path last year.  If you haven't done it do it!  It's way cool!  Everything ought to be beautiful, green by then with plenty of wildflowers!

What are the trails like difficulty wise?  Any deep water crossing, any pin striping, or is this more of a beauty/family ride?  Reason I am asking is because I have a brand new Taco that I am still hesitant on marking up...  Thanks, Ryan
